Prayer (Giving Your Last) Word For The Day! by Elaine Davenport Monday, October 5, 2009

In everything I have pointed out to you [by example] that, by working diligently in this manner, we ought to assist the weak, being mindful of the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, It is more blessed (makes one happier and more to be envied) to give than to receive. Acts 20: 35

hands-give

I was planning to take a trip down to Texas for a Faith Conference.  I had saved up my monies.  I had done all of the right things.  I had p\aid my plane fare months beforehand.  I had put aside my spending money and hotel fees.  Everything was just perfect.  Then I got a book in the mail from  a ministry in Russia.

They were asking for monies.  I’m going to be honest.  I said:  “I didn’t ask for them to send me this book.”  I decided not to even read it though I was curious.  It was a hardcover book.  One of my pet peeves was I hated for people to “presume” anything about me and my money.

I had a real tight budget at the time…I thought.  I was overcome with fear.  I wanted to obey, but giving up my only money seemed like such a stupid thing.  Would I do that for God?  It was a test for me.

After much prayer, I became full of peace.  It was all God’s idea; I could trust Him.

As I meditated in the Word of God over the next few days, I realized that I needed to send this ministry some money.  So, I asked God how much in my prayers.  Pretty soon, I kept hearing $500.00.

WHAT?  That was the exact amount I had saved for my trip though I was planning to add more.  My trip was just a little over 30 days away.  I began to pray…I said:  “Lord, if You want me to sow $500.00 into this ministry…you’re going to have to send it.

I’m not going to lie…it did not come.

I began to thank God for choosing me to be an example.  No one would know but me and God.  I contined to pray and meditate in the bible.  I confessed the Word over myself.  Love began to manifest in my spirit.  All of a sudden I had great compassion for what God would do in Russia.  I followed the Holy Spirit and I sowed the seed.     That was right around the time that I started this site.  One turned into two and now nine sites later, I still follow God’s plan.  I never dreamed it would be this big.  Never.

I went to the bank, got the money out.  I told no one.  I sent it to Russia.

As soon as I sent it…weird stuff began to happen.  All of my monies came and more besides.  I had enough to cover myself and another friend for the trip.  It was the most phenomenal trip and my friends threw me a surprise Birthday party and gave me more money while on the trip.  I had never had a birthday party in my life before that!  That was the year of my greatest Overflow all because I obeyed.

Going in to your Prayer Closet PART ONE by Elaine Davenport (Sunday, September 2, 2007)

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO FROM A PRAYER PERSPECTIVE WHEN AN EMERGENCY HAPPENS?

I’m just curious. Are you ready?

IS YOUR HOUSE BUILT ON THE SAND?

* I’m not trying to puff anyone up, but a lot of people don’t understand the need for understanding the importance of prayer. Fortunately, a lot of people do. Squirrels store nuts up all summer in my flower box for winter. My grandmother used to can peaches in Mason jars in the summer heat for winter. It’s the cuhtest thing; they know they’ll need it.
Ants work and work. My grandmother used to say” If you don’t do tis, even after I’m gone, I’ll know it, the ants will bring me the news.” Ants have been around for a long long time. I don’t quote science journals, but the bible spoke of the hard working ants.

A Lesson from the Ant
6-11 You lazy fool, look at an ant.
Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two.
Nobody has to tell it what to do.
All summer it stores up food;
at harvest it stockpiles provisions.
So how long are you going to laze around doing nothing?
How long before you get out of bed?
A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there,
sit back, take it easy—do you know what comes next?
Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life,
poverty your permanent houseguest!

PROVERBS 6: 6 (THE MESSAGE BIBLE)

HOW DO YOU STORE YOURSELF UP IN PRAYER? JUST BY PRAYING REGULARLY AND CONTINUALLY. Don’t let it become routine. Your aim in prayer should be the wonderful opportunity to meet with God, become close to Him and to pray for others as well as to gain Wisdom on matters that concern you.

It’s important to build a a solid foundation of faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. If you’ve got on your listening ears, hearing the Word, reading the Word, speaking the Word will build up your faith. You are a spirit and it will charge your spirit. As you build your faith, you will come to truly understand the need for prayer.

Here are some prayer scriptures to meditate upon:

Isaiah 65:24 (New International Version)

24 Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.

Colossians 4:2
“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;”

1Thessalonians 5:17
“Pray without ceasing.”

PRAYER WARRIOR TRAINING 101

Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 18: 19

When you decide to serve God by being a prayer warrior, it’s an opportunity.

Think about this: The home team has just gotten into the playoffs; someone gives you a FRONT ROW floor seat. It’s a Blessing! You realize it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity; you’ll be there without a doubt. You already know that the game will be totally different from that seat. You wouldn’t trade this opportunity for anything and you won’t miss it. The weather, transportation, nothing can stop you from seeing this first hand!

Well deciding to become a Prayer Warrior will be an experience. You’ll become a V.I.P. You’ll get a front row seat to miracles and answered prayer like never before! I assure you is that you wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s a whole lot like getting that FRONT ROW floor seat.

One strength that I’d love to see more of in the body of Christ is that people will get a desire to pray for and with other people more and not just for themselves.

Jesus called us to be disciples.

God is going to send people across your path and you’ve got to be ready to minister to them in prayer. If you’ll listen to their concerns and step out in faith, the Holy Spirit will lead you. Now, this is the point of caution: You have to have ammunition. This is how you get it:

PREREQUISITES: You have a heart for God; you love Him with all your heart, mind and soul AND you love your neighbor as yourself. You want to minister and disciple through prayer.

1. You have to develop a prayer life
2. Seek a relationship with God
3. Meditate in the Word of God
4. Speak the Word of God
5. Pray in your own language
6. Pray in the Spirit
7. Listen for that still small voice on the inside of you
8. Give from your heart
9. Believe that you have what you ask for
10. Remember that faith comes by hearing
11. Reach out to others for prayer
12. Remember you work for God and He orders your steps
13. Stay humble
14. Stay Holy
15. Make a decision
16. Be in expectation
